Connect Wirecast
RTMP is the best choice: it carries video and audio together at full quality and costs almost no CPU.
Option 1: RTMP (recommended)
- In Wirecast open Output → Output Settings.
- Choose RTMP Server as the destination.
- Set the address to
rtmp://127.0.0.1:1935/liveand any stream name, for examplewirecast. - Use H.264 video and AAC audio. A keyframe interval of 2 seconds and a constant bitrate work best for every platform.
- Click Stream in Wirecast. StreamPort’s preview lights up and the header shows RTMP source · signal.
What bitrate should I use?
Choose a bitrate your upload can sustain with room to spare, and keep in mind every destination uploads separately. Four destinations at 6 Mbps need about 24 Mbps of upload. StreamPort shows your total upload in the header. Re-encode some destinations to a lower bitrate if you need to save bandwidth.
Option 2: Virtual camera
Choose Settings → Source → Virtual Camera, pick Wirecast’s virtual camera (and an audio device if you want sound) and press Start source. macOS asks for camera and microphone permission the first time. Zoom can use the same virtual camera at the same time.
Option 3: NDI
Turn on NDI Output in Wirecast, install NDI Tools, then choose Settings → Source → NDI, rescan, pick the Wirecast source and press Start source.
Only one source at a time
StreamPort accepts one live source. If a second one tries to connect, it is refused and the Activity bar says which source is already live.
