Use a camera and stream to many platforms
StreamPort can use a camera directly, so you don't need Wirecast, OBS or vMix. One camera picture goes to all your destinations at the same time.
What works
- A USB webcam or any plug-and-play camera.
- Your Mac's built-in camera.
- A professional camera connected through an HDMI capture card (it appears as a camera).
- A virtual camera, such as Wirecast's.
Set it up
- Open Settings → Source and choose Virtual Camera (this mode covers any camera macOS can see).
- Pick your camera and your microphone. The first time, macOS asks you to allow camera and microphone access.
- Add your destinations under Settings → Destinations: paste a stream key for each platform, or connect your accounts.
- Press Start source to see the preview, then Go Live.
Good to know
- StreamPort asks the camera for 1920×1080 at 30 frames per second. If your camera can't do that, choose a smaller size (for example 1280×720) in the Source tab.
- Camera video is encoded by your Mac's hardware encoder before it is sent, so it works well on any recent Mac.
- Graphics (lower thirds, banner, ticker, countdown), the placeholder picture and StreamPort Cloud work with a camera too.
- Use StreamPort Cloud (Studio plan) to upload the camera picture only once, however many destinations you add.
